Pure Linen or a Blend? Choosing for Commercial Laundry
The biggest technical question in a uniform program is whether to use 100% linen or a blend, and the answer depends on one thing above all: how the uniforms will be laundered. Cotton adds tensile strength, reduces creasing, and presses flatter, which matters when a restaurant chain wants a uniform that looks sharp at 6 pm after an 11 am shift. Construction Details That Survive 100 Commercial Washes
A uniform is judged twice: on day one, when it is new and crisp, and on wash one hundred, when most garments have quietly given up. - Pre-shrunk fabric with tested shrinkage data. Linen shrinks roughly 3-7% on the first wash. - Colour-fast dyeing for dark uniforms. Black and navy chef wear is standard in hospitality, and dark linen needs a controlled dye and finishing process or it fades and bleeds in hot washing. We garment-dye or piece-dye with colour fastness testing at the bulk wash temperature, so the black stays black.
- Reinforced seams with clean finishing. Seams on uniforms are either flat-felled or overlocked with a secure stitch density, and pocket openings are reinforced so they do not tear under the weight of phones, pens, and order pads.

Branding: Embroidery, Labels, and Colour Programs
Hospitality uniforms are brand assets, and the branding is usually sewn in, not printed on. Three techniques cover almost every program we run. Uniform programs have their own economics, and the numbers below are the ones we quote in writing.
